Megumi is a 22-year-old print journalism major, planning to graduate in May 2005. She is a native of Kanagawa, Japan and moved to Reno in 2002.
She grew up in Atsugi, a city close to Tokyo. She loves to read and write in both English and Japanese. Her favorite writer is Kei Yuikawa, a Japanese female novelist.
After she experienced two homestay programs in California during her high school years, she decided to come to study in the United States to pursue a career in the English and Japanese media.
She went to a Japanese college for one year to prepare to study abroad and transfered to the University of Nevada, Reno in the summer of 2002.
In the summer of 2004, she had an internship at "The Nichi Bei Times," a Japanese-English bilingual newspaper based in San Francisco. She wrote a lot of news articles in both languages and interviewed various people such as musicians and athletes.
She learned that working for the biligual newspaper does not only contribute to those who cannot read in English but also helps spread accurate information about ethnic minorities.
She also worked as an editor and reporter for J-Link magazine published by J-Link, a Japanese student organization in Southern California.
She is looking for a job in a bilingual newspaper or magazine in the United States.
